How do I find out my student's grades?
The is a federal law that protects your student’s privacy. Once a student begins college—even if they’re under 18—their educational records belong to them, not their parents.
This means that Kellogg Community College can’t share things like grades, class schedules, or financial aid information with parents or family members without the student’s written permission.
What You Can Do
- Talk to your student: Encourage them to share important information with you directly.
- Stay involved: While we can’t release information without permission, we’re always happy to talk with families about general college policies, timelines, and how to support your student.
FERPA is in place to help students take ownership of their education—and we’re here to help both students and families through that journey.
Can students take classes while still in High School?
Yes! Through the Dual Enrollment and Early College Programs, students are eligible to take classes while still in high school.
Learn more about each program on the High School Students webpage.
